About

Permanent Record Press is a vegan feminist publishing company based in rural Indiana.

The mission of Permanent Record Press is to represent, print, and preserve an alternative perspective on the ways in which some humans have chosen to civilize, domesticate, and survive. It publishes work that challenges the superiority of human logic, and the goodness of our modern infrastructure. Permanent Record Press has a special interest in adding rural women’s voices—and their considerations of the domesticated, half-wild, and wild animals they share their lives with—to the “permanent record.”

“Nobody listens to rural women, but they are the ones who know the secrets of civilization. They know how a woods becomes a field, how a field becomes a town. They live with the men who do it.  They know what those men believe. Women as poor as the trees.”
